standard chartered singapore marathon 2007

There were about 41,000 participants in this year's singapore marathon. the crowd was overwhelming. 4am: everyone in the neighbourhood who is awake are heading to the same destination. dressed in full running gear (except mee), we hopped on to the bus as if we are going on a tour to genting.

check out the crowd! by the time we reached, the full marathon runners had already started their race. we witnessed the elite zoom past the 12km mark. wa seh. they really run at jaw dropping pace. the champion finished off in 2h 14mins! he told me thats about 17s/100m!!! wa rao eh.
then, his race started. his backview slowly disappeared in the crowd. i head down to esplanade. it's quite cute. over there, all the gfs sat along the river and watch sunrise while waiting for their bfs to complete their race. haha.

went opposite to fullerton and managed to catch him and cheered him on!

the rest of the time i was at the finishing line. its very inspirating to see all the runners step across the finish line with emotions. some raised up both hands in victory and glory of their country's flags. some continued to take that painful stride to accomplish their goal. there were a few who collapsed just before that beeping mat and helpers had to assist them to wheelchairs. uncle richard aged 83 completed the half marathon which proves that impossible is nothing. couples came in hand in hand. friends crossed their arms around. families in kids dash were sho heartwarming. supporters were inching out their necks, anticipating to welcome their loved ones back. very very touching. it really hits you when u are in the midst of it.

inspired to be part of the champions next year?
